WHo is pono?
Pono Akiona is a part Hawaiian beatboxer born and raised on Maui. He began his beatbox journey in 2016 with his first competition being in 2018. Since then he has gone on to become the American Beatbox Champion in both the solo and tag team category. He also is the organizer of many beatbox events held in Hawaii including the annual Hawaii Beatbox Championship.

One of Pono’s goals is to help spread beatboxing throughout Hawaii. He organizes the Hawaii Beatbox Championship annually with the intent to bring the community together and give the local talent an opportunity to compete and show their skills. Aside from this he is also the organizer of the Aloha Beatbox Battle, a larger international competition and the Maui Beatbox Championship, a smaller battle for the Maui community specifically.
